We had our first blind tasting on Thursday 7th May which involved seven women from the Bunbury community sampling our product and oh boy (or should we say oh girl) was it a success!
Each of our tasters tried seven different mystery Gins, four recipes were ours and three belonged to other brands. Everyone rated the samples on smell, mouth feel and taste, then ranked them from 1 – 7 at the end of the session. Being the first night out in months for everyone since COVID-19, the evening turned into a bit of fun with a lot of laughter and chatting about the history behind Cuprum Distillery, our story and of course…. Gin. Even though each of our guests were strangers, no one actually wanted the blind tasting to end!
We tallied up the results at the end of the night and were thrilled with the results. Our Gin recipes ranked 1st, 2nd 3rd and 4th, meaning they were the favourites of the blind tasting. We were thrilled with this result and absolutely loved having input from our panel!
We will be conducting two more tastings before we decide on our signature Gin recipe. The next one on Thursday 14th May which will be men only (seeing as last week was ladies night) and then our final tasting will be held in another week on the 21st May.
